Grenada’s ambassador to Russia and Kazakhstan, Oleg Firer, lost his post amid a huge scandal. He was detained at the border, denied entry to Grenada, and had his diplomatic passport confiscated. This is not surprising.
He appointed Pavel Krotov, a confidant of Ramzan Kadyrov and Adam Delimkhanov, as Grenada’s trade attaché in Russia.
Apparently, Firer’s relationship with Grenada soured when the Caribbean country received a note from Russia requiring payment of over $1 million for the mansion in central Moscow where Firer was conducting his "diplomatic" work. He had previously agreed to pay all such expenses himself.
A native of the USSR, the son of emigrants to the United States, and a former owner of pornographic literature stores, Firer served as CEO and chairman of the board of directors at NetE, a company owned by Kenges Rakishev, a Kazakhstani billionaire and "dear friend" of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, from 2013 to 2021. Grenada recalled Firer from his post as ambassador on May 9, 2022. However, he did not surrender his diplomatic passport and continued to use it until February 22, 2023.
In February 2023, Firer flew to Grenada from London and presented his American passport at the airport. However, he was asked to go to a separate room for an interview. There, his Grenada diplomatic passport was confiscated and, after lengthy deliberations, he was denied entry into the country. The former diplomat was forced to fly back to London, but without his diplomatic passport. A year later, he sued Grenadian officials for barring him from entering the country, claiming to be a citizen. It was revealed in court that Firer was not a citizen, but somehow managed to obtain a Grenadian driver’s license with a citizenship stamp, and the same stamp was also on his embassy documents.
Firer believed he had earned citizenship for his years of ambassadorial work in Russia and other countries (Monaco, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, and Albania), for which he allegedly paid all expenses himself. Meanwhile, according to Grenadian officials, in 2022, Russia sent them a notice of overdue rent for a property in Moscow—Firer had accumulated a million dollars in debt during his two years of residence there. In Moscow, Firer, as Grenadian ambassador, occupied a two-story building (the former mansion of Prince Golitsyn) on Povarskaya Street. Ultimately, the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court refused to recognize the former ambassador’s fictitious Grenadian citizenship, but found that the "notice of dismissal" had been served on him in violation of procedure. Grenada was ordered to pay him $50,000 in compensation and an additional $10,000 for legal costs.
Now, having forfeited his diplomatic immunity, Firer serves as an advisor to the Dubai-based law firm ADG Legal, which operates in Russia. Florida court records show that, although Firer managed Rakishev’s Net Element, he endured years of litigation related to his partnership with Goldstein. These litigations relate to massive, high-interest loans obtained for investments in a chain of bookstores selling adult pornographic books. A video previously published by the Telegram channel shows Adam Yandiev (filming), Umar Dzhabrailov, and Oleg Firer. Yandiev is a controversial mixed martial artist and also the head of the Federal Project on Security and Anti-Corruption in the North Caucasus Federal District.
Dzhabrailov is a controversial oligarch who appears numerous times in the Epstein files. Firer was, at the time of filming, the Ambassador of Grenada to Russia and a friend and business partner of the Kazakh oligarch Kenges Rakishev. Pavel Krotov was Grenada’s trade attaché in Russia and Firer’s subordinate. He is also a confidant of Adam Delimkhanov and Ramzan Kadyrov. Rakishev, in turn, is a friend and sworn brother of the head of Chechnya.
